Take the First Step Toward Excellence
Club teams: surge
Our competitive Surge Basketball teams participate in development leagues and tournaments throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons, competing in communities such as Tacoma, Seattle, Port Angeles, and surrounding areas.
Surge is designed for athletes seeking a higher level of competition and development than traditional recreational programs provide. Our goal is to help players grow as basketball players while preparing them for future opportunities at the middle school, high school, and beyond.
More than just basketball, Surge is committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment where athletes can develop their skills, build confidence, and learn the value of teamwork. We emphasize character, sportsmanship, discipline, and hard work, helping players succeed both on and off the court.
TEAM EVALUATION
If your athlete enjoys playing and wants to be challenged in a positive, competitive environment, Surge may be a great fit! Interested players are encouraged to attend a practice session for an evaluation by one of our coaches. Evaluations help determine the best team placement based on a player's current skill level, experience, and developmental needs.
Players can join a team at any point during the season if space is available. Teams are usually being formed at the beginning of the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Team Fundraising
HOODIE SPONSORSHIP: Upon joining the club each player will participate in the Surge Hoodie Fundraiser. Players invite family, friends, co-workers and businesses to sponsor the program. All players will receive a custom Surge team hoodie regardless of fundraising participation.
SPRING SHOOT-A-THON: Players collect pledges and participate in a basketball shooting event. Players will compete to see who can make the most free throws out of 100 shots.
All players are encouraged to participate in team fundraising activities designed to help offset tournament costs and support the overall program.
Fundraising efforts help support:
- Team swag and apparel
- Uniform costs
- Coach travel expenses (when necessary)
- Financial assistance for families
- Equipment and program improvements
- Unexpected team expenses
- Additional player opportunities
Why We Use This Model
Under our current model, tournament and league fees are included in the monthly membership fee, providing families with a simple and predictable cost throughout the season.
This approach helps us:
- Simplify registration and payment processes
- Eliminate separate tournament payments throughout the year
- Provide consistent opportunities for competition and development
- Make budgeting easier for families
- Offer financial assistance to families in need
- Focus fundraising efforts on scholarships, team enhancements, and program growth
Our goal is to provide high-quality, affordable basketball opportunities while ensuring that no player is turned away due to financial hardship.

What makes our club different?
Character First
We believe success is about more than wins and losses. We intentionally develop character, sportsmanship, leadership, work ethic, and respect both on and off the court.
Quality Coaching
Our coaches are committed to player development and mentorship, creating a positive environment where athletes are challenged, encouraged, and supported.
Basketball IQ
We teach players how to think the game. Athletes learn decision-making, spacing, team concepts, communication, and situational awareness—not just skills.
Consistent Practice
Players receive regular instruction and skill development through structured team practices designed to promote long-term growth.
Small Rosters
We aim for rosters of 8 players (maximum of 10) to maximize playing time, player involvement, and opportunities for growth.
Affordable Club Basketball
Our fee structure and fundraising model help make competitive basketball more accessible than many traditional club programs.
Year Round Development Opportunities
Players can participate in tournaments, leagues, skills training, 3v3 competitions, and other Sports Beyond programs throughout the year.
