Take the First Step Toward Excellence

Surge Overview + Fees

Our competitive Surge Basketball teams participate in development leagues and tournaments throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons, competing in communities such as Tacoma, Seattle, Port Angeles, and surrounding areas.

Surge is designed for athletes seeking a higher level of competition and development than traditional recreational programs provide. Our goal is to help players grow as basketball players while preparing them for future opportunities at the middle school, high school, and beyond.

More than just basketball, Surge is committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment where athletes can develop their skills, build confidence, and learn the value of teamwork. We emphasize character, sportsmanship, discipline, and hard work, helping players succeed both on and off the court.

TEAM EVALUATION

If your athlete enjoys playing and wants to be challenged in a positive, competitive environment, Surge may be a great fit! Interested players are encouraged to attend a practice session for an evaluation by one of our coaches. Evaluations help determine the best team placement based on a player's current skill level, experience, and developmental needs.

Players can join a team at any point during the season if space is available. Teams are usually being formed at the beginning of the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Player Expectations
    • Commitment & Effort: Show up to every practice and game with a positive attitude, ready to work hard, listen to coaches, and give 100% effort.

    • Respect the Game: Treat teammates, coaches, opponents, and referees with respect at all times—regardless of the score or call.

    • Punctuality & Communication: Arrive on time for scheduled practices and games with proper gear (uniform, basketball, and water bottle). Notify your coach as early as possible if you must miss a session.

    • Accountability: Take pride in your personal development, support your teammates, and represent Sports Beyond and Surge Basketball with integrity on and off the court.

Parent Expectations
    • Positive Sideline Support: Be your child's and the team’s biggest cheerleader. Keep all sideline comments encouraging, positive, and focused on effort rather than outcomes.

    • Let the Coaches Coach: Refrain from coaching or instructing players from the stands during practices and games. Conflicting instructions can confuse players and disrupt team strategy.

    • Respect Officials: Referees are a vital part of the game and deserve our respect. Parents must refrain from criticizing, yelling at, or confronting game officials.

    • The 24-Hour Rule: If you have a question or concern regarding playing time, team decisions, or a game situation, please wait 24 hours after the game before contacting the coaching staff. This allows time for reflection and ensures productive, constructive conversations.
